Project
Students were asked to create a logo and branding for a company they created. I created Amphibi, a swimwear company geared towards swimmers who enjoy natural bodies of water and the outdoors. I kept the logo and font clear, playful, modern, and androgynous; I want the brand to feel accessible to all swimmers while emulating the joy and rejuvenation that comes with swimming in nature.
Research
I researched the colors and forms associated with water, nature, ponds, and frogs. Since frogs are amphibians, meaning the live both on land and water, I wanted to reference the dual nature of avid swimmers. While they do have lives out of their hobby, their time in water is just as important and a part of them.
Process
I started by sketching ideas for a graphic logo mark and then converted it into a vector image in Adobe Illustrator. I then tried different iterations and colors. Students were asked to use pantone colors for this project, using up to three.
Result
I applied the research to my final design and mockups, including touch points such as a two version of a retail bag. Additionally, I created a paper system and business card for the theoretical business, and show how the logo can be applied for different purposes and with different backgrounds.
