Project
For my graphic design internship, I was asked to create the the branding and promotional material for the SDSU Art and Design Galleries Spring 2024 Exhibition, 'The Imaginary Amazon'. The Imaginary Amazon was curated by Dr. Gillian Sneed and and coordinated by Gallery Coordinator, Chantel Paul. I was given the opportunity to work with them and bring their vision to life.
Research
I researched the cultures of the people and artists who live in the Amazon, in order to create a branding system that was respectful and representative of their culture. I was inspired by the colors and topography of the lush land, the typography from South American design in the 1960's, and the organic shapes that many of the artists in the exhibitions used in their work.
Result
For the show, I created the final poster and logo design, and helped with the final postcard and social media posts. I really enjoyed creating comprehensive branding and gained a lot of confidence in multiple different print and digital deliverables. I even helped with the vinyl wall decal installation and it was so rewarding to see my hard work displayed at such a large scale.
